About Us

Bisee Books is a charity which aims to provide books for disadvantaged schoolchildren in the memory of Sarah Howard 26, Indira Swann, 18, Emily Sadler, 19, Elizabeth Pincock, 19, and Rebecca Logie, 19.

The name takes the first letter of each girl’s first name – Becci, Indira, Sarah, Emily and Elizabeth.

The group was travelling in Ecuador when their coach struck a lorry loaded with sand on the 12th April 2008.

“Sarah, Becci, Indira, Emily and Lizzie were such caring and loving individuals and we all felt that we wanted to do something positive in support of communities in Ecuador as a lasting legacy to our girls.

Five schools are already set to benefit from the organisation by having their own library created in the girls’ names.

The charity was officially launched in Ecuador in April 2009

“We hope our trip to Ecuador, one year on from this devastating tragedy, will provide us with an opportunity to experience this country for ourselves and to see how BISEE books can make a constructive contribution to young children’s education in Puerto Lopez.”

The Puerto Lopez region was chosen because it was the region where the gapyear students were due to be doing volunteer work.

BISEE Books is a ring-fenced fund that operates as part of the VentureCo Trust (Registered charity number 1111268.) The fund is exclusively for the development of the literacy project in Ecuador which is a cornerstone of the memorial to the five girls who died and the eight survivors of the 12th April 2008 coach crash.

Bisee Books and the VentureCo Trust are administered by VentureCo Worldwide and can be contacted at mail@ventureco-worldwide.com
